ST. JOSEPH, Mo. —
The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, will headline the 2024 Sound of Speed Air Show and Open House on Sept. 14 and 15, 2024 at Rosecrans Memorial Airport.
Col. John Cluck, commander of the 139th Airlift Wing, and John Josendale, mayor of St. Joseph, made the announcement on Dec. 22, 2022 at Rosecrans.
The occasion is free and open to the general public.
The final time the Thunderbirds carried out in St. Joseph was for the 2021 Sound of Speed Air Show. The Thunderbirds named that air present because the Military Show Site of the Year.
The Sound of Speed Air Show is a joint occasion hosted by the 139th Airlift Wing, Missouri Air National Guard, and town of St. Joseph.
Cluck stated he’s excited to host the Thunderbirds once more and for the neighborhood to work together with the wing. “It’s an opportunity for us to show what the Missouri Air National Guard has to offer,” he stated.
