New Horizontal Stabilizers of U.S. Air Force KC-135R Stratotankers will be made by Spirit AeroSystems at it’s Tulsa Facility !

Spirit AeroSystems has bagged a contract from The Boeing Company to supply new horizontal stabilizers for U.S. Air Force KC-135R Stratotankers. The contract is for an preliminary 34 horizontal stabilizer kits.

 

At the rear of the fuselage of most plane one finds a horizontal stabilizer. Per definition, the horizontal stabilizer is a hard and fast wing part whose job is to supply stability for the plane, to maintain it flying straight. The horizontal stabilizer prevents up-and-down, or pitching, movement of the plane nostril.

 

Spirit will help extending the life of the KC-135R via at least 2040 using its superior meeting capabilities together with determinant meeting . The KC-135 sequence of plane first entered the U.S. Air Force fleet in 1957.

 


 

The contracted new horizontal stabilizers will be produced at the Spirit facility in Tulsa , Okla.

The KC-135 continues to supply the core aerial refueling functionality for the United States Air Force, in addition to offering aerial refueling for the Navy, Marine Corps and allied nation plane. The KC-135 helps give the nation’s navy international attain.

Spirit can be serving to Boeing prolong the life of the B-52 Stratofortress by offering engine pylons and nacelles for the preliminary section of the B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement Program (CERP).

 

The whole CERP effort is predicted to exchange 608 engines on the U.S. Air Force fleet of B-52H fashions.  Spirit will help extending the life of the B-52 Stratofortress via at least 2050. The B-52 first entered the U.S. Air Force fleet in 1955.
