Maj. Nathaniel Hofmann is the Right Wing Pilot for the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, flying the No. 3 jet. He earned his commission through the Air Force ROTC program and graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 2005. As a student, he participated in football, basketball, golf and track and field. Initially, Hofmann was a communications officer for the Air Force prior to attending undergraduate pilot training in 2010. Before joining the team, Hofmann served as an F-16 Instructor Pilot and Flight Commander at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. He has logged more than 1,500 hours as an Air Force pilot in the F-16, T-38 and T-6A aircraft, with nearly 350 hours of combat experience. Hofmann is in his second season with the team and hails from Rockford, Ill.
